Vietnam Weather

Vietnam is mostly made up of hills and mountains with nearly 50% of the land being covered by tropical rainforests. The weather for over half of the country is 84% humidity and temperatures from 21 - 28°C in the low lying and coastal areas. Of course in the mountains temperatures drop much lower as does the humidity. In the cooler months from December to January the temperatures can drop to 5°C and can get as high as 37°C in April.

The summer monsoon wet season runs from May to October and depending on the area rain can reach levels from 1200mm to 3000mm. Most of the rain to fall on Vietnam occurs in the rainy season. There are many large rivers that cross Vietnam and these rivers flood nearby low lying areas each monsoon season. Travel to Vietnam is best in the months its not raining heavily. Basically the best time to travel is between November to March to avoid the wet weather.
